WORLD CUP HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
CHALLENGE
To improve the pre-event experience for thousands of attendees worldwide...
Octagon is one of the largest event sponsorship agencies in the world, but the process through which it managed its esteemed guests for those events was stuck in the past.
In preparation for the 2018 World Cup, our team at Octagon was approached with the task of creating a hospitality management system to replace the other vendors and the Google docs that had been used for years.
We identified an opportunity not just for a project, but for a product that could change how the agency manages each and every event moving forward.
SOLUTION
we developed a custom-made hospitality platform that served the largest sporting event in the World...
Hand-in-hand with the primary client AB InBev and the global sponsorship team, we created a platform that was custom-built for the opportunity ahead of us.
The platform contained both front-end and back-end components, beginning with administrators populating the content of the system, inviting guests, then managing those guests as they registered for the event through their own devices.
More importantly, we built a framework that could be modified and improved over time, allowing us to customize the capabilities of the platform for each future client.
RESULTS
that resulted in tens of thousands of registrations and created a reliable and recurring revenue stream.
At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, over 30,000 guests registered through our system, almost one-half of the capacity of Russia’s crown jewel Luzhniki Stadium.
The system was spun off to serve multiple other brands, like watchmaker Hublot and oil company Gazprom.
Successfully navigated a international privacy security crisis brought about country-wide by the Russian government.
Following the World Cup, the platform was then utilized for a number of other client opportunities, such as the audio-visual company Crestron.
